In Melela many children don't attend preschool or kindergarten because a major national highway has to be crossed to reach the school. They delay starting school; when they join in the 1st grade they are Wealready behind. The Nareto Primary School is being built to provide access to high-quality, Christian education for children who live far from the government school. Priority is given to the poorest families or children living in single-parent households or with a parent with HIV or mental illness.
